Javier is a Toronto based documentary film director, and a commercial photographer and cinematographer.
He was born and raised in Colombia and immigrated to Canada in 2006 after receiving a M.Sc. in Aerospace Engineering from Purdue University.

He is an alumni of Hot Docs Accelerator Program, EFM Doc Toolbox, DOC Institute Breakthrough Program, RIDM 2020 Talent Lab, and Hot Docs Deal Maker Program. His work has premiered at Hot Docs Film Festival, featured in Contact Photography Festival, supported by the National Film Board, of Canada, The Ford Foundation, and Hot Docs CrossCurrents Fund.

His select editorial and commercial clients include The Guardian UK, The Globe and Mail, ELLE Magazine, FASHION Magazine, The West End Phoenix, BMW, NIKE, Joe Fresh, and ROOTS. He is the recipient of the 2009 Applied Arts Photo Annual award in the Fashion and Beauty Category.
